Empowering Collaborative Solutions for a Sustainable Future

Conservation Loan Collaborative

  • Who is LegacyWorks Group (LWG)?

LegacyWorks Group was founded in 2014 to catalyze and facilitate collaborative initiatives. LWG works across various domains, including conservation, regenerative agriculture, climate action, disaster recovery, and more. The organization partners with foundations, nonprofits, government agencies, and investors to address complex challenges. LWG builds capacity, systems, and shared infrastructure while fostering partnerships that pursue solutions to critical needs.

  • The Need/Challenge

The need for rapid conservation action is more significant than ever, with mandates like the 30x30 agenda aiming to conserve 30% of our land and water by 2030 and the Justice40 Initiative prioritizing equity and access to funds. However, despite the availability of historic public funding through the Great American Outdoors Act, the Inflation Reduction Act, and other significant initiatives, the flow of these funds is slow and often comes on a reimbursement basis. This clog in the funding process creates a critical gap in bridge financing, which is essential for land trusts, tribes, and communities to act swiftly on high-priority conservation projects. Without immediate capital, billions in public funding may go unspent, threatening national conservation goals.

  • The Solution: Conservation Loan Collaborative (CLC)

LegacyWorks Group is launchinghas launched the Conservation Loan Collaborative (CLC) to address the need for bridge financing in conservation. The CLC is a nationwide initiative designed to enable organizations and coalitions to create and capitalize loan funds that provide the necessary capital to seize high-priority conservation opportunities as they arise.

  • What is the CLC?

The CLC is a collaborative platform that supports large-scale conservation efforts by providing ready access to capital through innovative financing solutions, including grants, investments, and low-interest loans. By empowering land trusts and communities to launch regional and topical loan funds, the CLC helps accelerate conservation outcomes and bridge the financing gap.
