Our Collaborative Impact Model

Over the past five years LegacyWorks Group has been applying and refining our collaborative impact mission and model. Progress has been encouraging, with demand and momentum growing steadily.

The LegacyWorks approach is powered by a continuously expanding spiral of activity that strengthens collaboration, empowers community leadership, expands understanding and builds the capacity needed to address our most pressing challenges. Success with individual collaborative projects over time generates systemic outcomes and  transformative impact: a dramatic and lasting shift in the culture and capacity of a community that enables them to collectively achieve shared goals that otherwise are impossible.

Our core method relies on an iterative process:

  1. Building trust and relationships among key leaders

  2. Co-creating shared vision and purpose

  3. Identifying priority impact opportunities

  4. Initiating and resourcing catalytic collaborative projects

  5. Cultivating follow-on collaborations

  6. Stewarding the resulting virtuous cycle that builds capacity and courage to tackle increasingly complex initiatives together

This process recognizes that there are great ideas and solutions latent within every organization and leader that are waiting for the right conditions to emerge. When we show up in service and support projects that the community wants to advance, we help create the conditions to make those ideas and solutions happen. Each collaborative project deepens the connection between community leaders, and each success generates more opportunities and the courage and resources to advance them. Once multiple collaborations are underway, the process accelerates, creating real potential for systems scale transformational change.

There has never been a time when we have needed a pathway to systemic change more, and this process provides a tried and true guide to building that pathway right in your community. Does this match your experience? We’d love to hear your stories and the lessons you’ve learned along the way.

This incredible, transformative, amazing thing is happening. We sometimes forget how far and how fast we have come, and how important it is to focus on the transformative nature of what’s happened here in the past few years. It’s really profound.
