East Cape Futures Forum 2025: A Gathering for Regenerative Change in Baja California Sur
A diverse group with a united spirit and an emerging commitment to regeneration and collaboration
On March 27–28, 2025, LegacyWorks Group convened the second East Cape Futures Forum in Los Barriles, Baja California Sur, bringing together over 220 participants to collaboratively explore pathways toward a regenerative future for the region. Local community leaders, agricultural producers, residents, real estate developers, tourism leaders, investors, and donors came together to exchange ideas, activate networks, and co-create a regenerative future for one of Mexico’s most ecologically and culturally rich regions.
The forum was shaped in large part by Voces Communitarias, a leadership group made up of local East Cape community leaders. Voces Communitarias was born out of the first forum in 2023 and is facilitated and supported by LegacyWorks. Workshops and panels featured community leaders as well as leading Mexican regenerative resort proprietors from Rancho la Puerta, Playa Viva, and Rancho Cacachilas. In this way, the gathering blended inspiration from pioneers in regenerative development with community wisdom about what’s needed on the ground and in the waters of the East Cape.
Thursday evening’s Sierra-Mar Dinner was a powerful example of regenerative collaboration and an indicator of the kind of future that’s possible for the region. Chefs and local producers co-created a menu emphasizing local flavors and ingredients, a first-of-its-kind event in the East Cape. The food was outstanding, and the energy around building a more interconnected and regenerative local food system was palpable. Chefs, restaurants, resorts, and producers strengthened connections, and new collaborations are already underway.
Looking ahead, the LegacyWorks team is finalizing a roadmap for the year ahead with a variety of ways for participants to move into action to reshape the trajectory of the East Cape. As we look ahead, LegacyWorks is excited to partner with participants to create a new regional development model to make good on our shared belief that communities, ecosystems, and ethical development can thrive together in Baja California Sur.
