Guerrero-Juluchuca

A living laboratory for implementing regenerative practices

Regenerating from the mountains to the sea

On the southern coast of Guerrero, in the Juluchuca River micro-watershed, we are fostering a regenerative model that integrates schools, farmland, mangroves, and organized communities through the ReSiMar initiative. This program connects water, education, permaculture, marine conservation, and local governance.

We are training over 200 children as EcoAgents, supporting women in launching agricultural enterprises, and empowering communities to restore forests and manage water using innovative tools. This area serves as a testing ground for practical solutions, such as biofilters, fuel-efficient stoves, agroecological systems, and partnerships.

Here, regeneration means returning to abundance through dignity, creativity, and collaboration.

Founded by LegacyWorks Board Member David Leventhal, Playa Viva embodies a new vision of tourism rooted in reciprocity, community engagement, and environmental stewardship. What a place to be alive.

Regeneration is a paradigm shift, and so much of that shift is around the concept of moving from an extractive model to a model that understands there is abundance in the world.
