The Pikes Peak Sentinel Landscape Coordinator role is a full-time, exempt position within the Sentinel Landscapes team of LegacyWorks Group. This role is a hybrid role located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

About Sentinel Landscapes

The Sentinel Landscapes Partnership is a coalition of federal agencies, state and local governments, and private organizations that work with landowners and land managers to advance sustainable land-use practices around military installations and ranges. The partnership aligns the objectives of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Department of the Interior, and Department of War to strengthen military readiness, conserve natural resources, bolster agricultural and forestry economies, increase public access to outdoor recreation, and enhance landscape resilience. 

What You’ll Do  

The Pikes Peak Sentinel Landscape Coordinator advances strategies to achieve the goals of the Sentinel Landscape Implementation Plan and other priorities critical to the anchor installation(s) within the landscape. They foster strong connections and clear communication across local, state, regional, and federal partners to support military readiness and local communities’ needs where interests and priorities align. By leveraging funding sources and sharing the impact of the Pikes Peak Sentinel Landscape, they support partner success and drive implementation of shared conservation, land-use, and community goals. 

The Pikes Peak Sentinel Landscape Coordinator role is integral to:

  1. Fostering trust, connectedness, relationships, strong networks, and partnerships across federal, state, local, and non-governmental organizations, as well as private landowners.

  2. Building capacity and supporting the development of the Pikes Peak Sentinel Landscape Leadership Team and partner working groups.

  3. Holding space for authentic engagement and convening partners to advance the Sentinel Landscape Implementation Plan.

  4. Catalyzing collective action and investment in landscape priorities by translating goals into measurable strategies and actions.

  5. Leading storytelling and collaborative data sharing initiatives to assess and share impact, and enable informed, collaborative decision-making across the partnership.

Your Primary Responsibilities 

  1. Local Partnership Facilitation

    1. Lead the Pikes Peak Sentinel Landscape Leadership Team as the primary point of contact, coordinating with federal, state, local, and non-governmental stakeholders

    2. Build, nurture, and maintain partner relationships, with a focus on installation leadership

    3. Convene and facilitate regular Leadership Team and partnership meetings, managing agendas, logistics, and documentation

    4. Support each working group, and appointed chairs in crafting agendas and ensuring effective communication and task management

    5. Ensure alignment with administration priorities

    6. Foster belonging, access and opportunity in all partnership engagement

  2. Team Leadership and Relationship Stewardship

    1. Build and support the Leadership Team and partnership, strengthening capacity, collaboration, and effectiveness

    2. Foster trust and cultivate collaboration by actively listening, centering diverse voices, and connecting perspectives

    3. Embrace complexity, navigate uncertainty, and share power through inclusive decision-making and knowledge sharing

    4. Support long-term sustainability by expanding team capabilities and planning leadership succession

  3. Planning and Strategy Implementation

    1. Develop, maintain, and implement the Pikes Peak Sentinel Landscape Implementation Plan, including landscape-level milestones and measurable outcomes

    2. Guide working groups to align strategies and actions with partnership goals

    3. Drive continuous improvement by iterating openly, staying curious, and learning from experience

  4. Funds Management 

    1. Develop and oversee the annual Pikes Peak Sentinel Landscape budget, aligning resources with strategic priorities

    2. Track and report on partnership finances to support transparency and informed decision-making

    3. Coordinate fundraising efforts and provide guidance to partners leading major grants and funding proposals

    4. Assist partners in managing grants, ensuring compliance and accurate reporting

  5. Storytelling and Reporting

    1. Collect, analyze and report partnership metrics to track progress toward goals and inform decision-making

    2. Lead communications initiatives directed toward internal and external partners and key stakeholders

    3. Capture and share successes, key learnings, and impact to inspire broader understanding and replication

    4. Provide regular reports and updates as contractually required

  6. Organizational Collaboration 

    1. Contribute to the evolution of LPW’s collaborative impact model and support initiatives centered around belonging, access, and opportunity

    2. Participate actively in team meetings and organizational working groups to foster a cohesive team environment

    3. Connect with other sentinel landscape coordinators and staff through communities of practice to enhance learning across partnerships

    4. Comply with all LPW’s systems and policies, including but not limited to time tracking, credit card expense reporting, reimbursement requests, and other organizational requirements

  • Communicating candidly and compassionately, keeping messages clear, timely, and accessible

  • Embracing distributed leadership, stepping up while creating space for others to contribute and collaborate

  • Channeling systems thinking by connecting perspectives to make sense of complexity

  • Harnessing technology creatively, using current and emerging tools to advance projects and organizational goals

Position Details 

This position is Full-Time Exempt (40) hours per week. 

Salary range is $85,000-$130,000 based on relevant qualifications and experience.

As a full-time salaried employee, you are eligible to participate in the organization’s group medical and dental insurance plans and eligible for a home office equipment allocation from LegacyWorks to contribute to the costs of remote work. LegacyWorks also has a 401k plan which you will be eligible to participate in; we do not offer any match contribution at this time. LegacyWorks has an unlimited paid time off policy that encompasses both holidays and vacation days.
