Land use planning policies in both Los Cabos and La Paz municipalities (which overlap in Cabo del Este) lag behind the realities of current development and represent scant protection for critical environmental or social values. Both municipalities have re-opened processes to publish new land use regulations based on Urban Development Plans (PDUs). LegacyWorks seeks to ensure that, when published, the PDUs reflect significant community values and conservation elements. We believe we can achieve this when knowledge of resources is improved and significant portions of the local civic leadership in the region are advocates for containing previously unbridled development.
