Shared Platform

LegacyWorks Group is a network of changemakers and impact entrepreneurs stewarding place-based initiatives, social enterprises, projects and programs that address an array of community needs, challenges and opportunities. This diverse set of leaders and initiatives share a common foundation - building community resilience through cross-sector collaborations and public-private partnerships. Community leaders and initiatives that call LegacyWorks home are supported by the LegacyWorks Platform - a shared impact model and administrative support system. We custom built the core elements of the platform to foster the success of innovative thinkers and the networks they weave.

LegacyWorks Group holds space for this mode of leadership, both in communities and within our own structure. We know that each community has the wisdom it needs to confront its challenges and opportunities, but doing so is hard, and organizations often stumble when it comes to initiating and successfully implementing the complex collaborations required. We think every community needs someone to occupy the in-between space to weave connection, catalyze partnerships, facilitate collective action and follow through on project management and implementation. That’s what we are built to do. Our success depends on facilitating initiatives that are truly community-driven and collectively-owned, rather than organizationally-controlled and constrained. While we lead, facilitate and steward many initiatives, we don’t own or organizationally control any of them.

We have co-created LegacyWorks Group’s culture and distributed leadership model to foster the conditions for this work in ourselves, our organization, our communities and the world. We lead our organization in the image of Frederick Laloux’s re-invented organizations that enable people to tap their full potential. The LegacyWorks Platform provides the support and empowerment leaders need to succeed in their dispersed, highly collaborative, catalytic work.

LegacyWorks Group began as a collection of projects and initiatives led by a handful of dedicated leaders in their home places. We have grown and are now thrilled to offer LegacyWorks as a home to other like-minded and like-hearted changemakers who share our belief that we can achieve deeper impact by collaborating across divides and tapping into the latent potential in our communities. If you share those beliefs and have the courage to embrace complexity and invite community ownership of the work ahead, LegacyWorks may be the right home for you. We can promise that doing this critical but challenging work is far easier in a community of fellow practitioners. We’d welcome a conversation with you about the possibilities of joining the LegacyWorks family.

Sponsored Programs

LegacyWorks serves as a home for a portfolio of impact initiatives, programs, projects, enterprises and public-private partnerships that would otherwise fall between the cracks of organizations and agencies or not fit neatly into their requisite categories. Some of those were launched by people on the team, and others were brought to LegacyWorks in various stages of their evolution. If you’re leading - or looking to launch - an initiative that sounds like what we’re talking about here, please reach out to us regarding possibilities in the arena of fiscal sponsorship. You can email our Executive Director, Carl Palmer, at Carl@LegacyWorksGroup.com or our Operations Director, Jessica Elliott, at Jessica@LegacyWorksGroup.com.

Voices JH

October 2023
We are proud to share that Voices JH successfully launched its operations as an indepedent Wyoming public benefit corporation after the IRS approved its designation as a charitable entity earlier in the year. Voices continues to partner with LegacyWorks Group in a variety of ways through our programmatic work in the region, and we look forward to supporting their continued growth and success in the years to come however we can.

Voices JH joined the LegacyWorks family as a sponsored program in January 2021 after the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole suggested LegacyWorks as a potential home. Voices JH sprung up as critical connective infrastructure in Teton County, Wyoming, when COVID-19 made existing inequities and the divide between the immigrant community and social service organizations a critical issue. Since March 2020, Voices JH has been weaving a trust-based network that connects immigrant and limited-English speaking families with the vital information and services they need to thrive. Voices JH has rapidly become a critical part of the community's response to COVID-19, while also improving the community’s response to the chronic challenges of inadequate housing, limited access to key services, and evolving questions around diversity, equity and inclusion. Our team is thrilled to have Voices JH join the LegacyWorks family and to collaborate with them to amplify their impact for the community.

"LegacyWorks has been so much more than a non-profit fiscal structure for us – they have been mentors, friends, cheerleaders and advocates for our work and the growth of our project. Their generosity and guidance is unmeasurable, and we are so grateful to have found a home with LegacyWorks."

– Jordan Rich, Program Director
