Ole Amundsen
Program Manager
Ole Amundsen uses his skills in finance, economic development and strategic conservation planning to help organizations and communities use their natural assets as part of their economic sustainability. A common theme throughout Ole’s 30 years of experience has been finding ways to use market forces to achieve public benefits. In recent years, Ole has focused on helping rural communities use their natural assets such as rivers, mountains, and protected lands, to help improve their overall economic development strategy. Great ideas often require financing, and Ole has experience in providing bridge financing to support a wide range of projects including building farmers markets, community centers, trail systems and protecting special places. As a reflective practitioner, Ole has taught conservation planning courses for the Land Trust Alliance and The Conservation Fund as well as served on the faculty of Cornell University and Colby College. He is the author of Strategic Conservation Planning, published by the Land Trust Alliance. Ole graduated with a Master’s degree in City Planning from MIT and received his Bachelor’s degree from Colby College.
