Sophie Bartley

Project Manager

Sophie serves as Project Manager for the CA Central Coast Region. She is passionate about community-based solutions, particularly those related to food systems and climate-resiliency.

At LegacyWorks, Sophie primarily supports the Santa Ynez River Estuary Restoration project, where she ensures community voices are heard and represented. Sophie also supports the Wildfire Resilience Collaborative and the Vandenberg Space Force Base Sentinel Landscape project where she helps to facilitate collaboration between the base and conservation partners.

Before joining LegacyWorks, Sophie worked in London as an ESG Analyst for the non-profit investor network, the FAIRR Initiative. In her role, she facilitated shareholder engagements that drove innovation in the global food sector, specifically within industrialized animal agriculture, serving as a tool for climate mitigation.

Sophie grew up in sunny Thousand Oaks, California. She earned her BA in Environmental Science from UC Santa Barbara (UCSB) and her Masters of Environmental Science and Management from the Bren School at UCSB.

In her free time, Sophie enjoys frequenting little libraries, baking (vegan) brown butter cookies, and knitting sweaters for chickens. She loves exploring the beautiful Central Coast and is delighted to call Santa Barbara home.
