Sandhill Migrations

Teton Valley has the most important fall pre-migration staging habitat for sandhill cranes in the entire Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Due to habitat loss and other factors, the population is increasingly threatened. We are working with Teton Regional Land Trust to stabilize and recover the full population and to align the cranes’ iconic appeal as an economic driver for the region.

  • Grow 40-50 acres per year of crane forage through our food plot program

  • Grow the Greater Yellowstone Sandhill Crane Festival into a regional attraction

  • Establish permanent protections and viewing areas along critical habitat
