Amber Morin
Fort Huachuca Sentinel Landscape Coordinator
Collaborative land stewardship and reliable relationships are a cornerstone of Amber’s personal and professional life, demonstrated in her facilitation of the Fort Huachuca Sentinel Landscape Partnership. Amber approaches challenges solution-oriented and leans into her local and nationwide Sentinel Landscape network of state, local, and federal land managers, NGOs, and subject matter experts to catalyze support and action for positive outcomes to pressing issues. Nothing excites Amber more than bringing collaborators together and sparking momentum to tackle common problems, identifying funding and capacity solutions, and providing project management support from start to finish.
As a second-generation public lands cattle rancher with an early career opportunity managing Arizona’s Natural Resource Conservation Districts, Amber learned early on that agency land managers and land owners have similar conservation values with different ways of discussing related topics. She has learned to listen with earnestness and curiosity while synthesizing information from diverse stakeholders. This skillset and awareness were helpful in her previous roles and are extremely important today.
She believes that resilient landscape-scale conservation planning efforts can and should work for landowners, land managers, funders, and local communities; this takes a willingness to set aside siloed thinking for community engagement and encourages honest communication and durable, creative opportunities.
Due to her minor obsession with maps and geospatial capabilities to inform management decisions and her desire to expand her skillset, Amber pursued her Certificate in Geographic Information Systems Technology.
Amber spends her personal time training performance horses with her family, doing ranch work (from business management to building fences), and attempting to golf and ski while thoroughly enjoying the many opportunities to embarrass her family on the courses and slopes. When time permits, she indulges her creativity via photography, pencil drawing, and writing.
